About me
I am a professor of biology at College of San Mateo in California teaching general biology and zoology. My varied professional and personal interests and involvements include:
A NASA imaging project here at the college where we are developing a program in remote sensing. This dovetails nicely with photography, both digital and emulsion-based.
Serving in the capacity of department chair and the attendant yadda-yadda-yadda.
Preparing for a summer session teaching plant biology to California community college students temporarily exported to Costa Rica.
Writing short stories and poetry.

What I'm interested in:
- Travel & Tropical Biology
Join me in Costa Rica for the College of San Mateo (California) 1998 Summer Session Abroad. I will be teaching a course called "Plants, People and the Environment." This course, labelled Biol 145 in our catalog will be taught in English and has no prerequistes beyond a high school diploma. We will take advantage of planned field trips to illustrate course concepts. Contact me for more details about the package which includes room and board with Costa Rican families. Use this as an opportunity to enhance your command of Spanish in one of the friendliest countries in the hemisphere.
- Creative Writing
This was my goal in high school until life intervened and offered other choices, challenges, and opportunities. Now I'm back, a neophyte dragging some of my experience in biology and higher education. One low level of entry has been my utilization of the much despise Limerick form to illuminate certain biological processes. Biological processes have often been central to limerick themes, of course, but many of these take a slightly different turn. Watch for a link to some egregious examples.
- Photography (digital & other)
Having recently been gifted with a digital camera, I will soon replace more of the boilerplate photos supplied by Fortune City with my own. At present only the shot of Mollie exemplifies this endeavor.
